More and more, Portland’s choices for street food are venturing south of the border and I’m not talking Mexico. In the last year, we have added carts from El Salvador, Venezuela, Brazil and Argentina. Port of Buenos Aires is the newest to treat us to their region’s delights.
Buenos Aries, the largest city in Argentina sits on the western shore of the estuary of the Río de la Plata, on the southeastern coast of the South America. It is also the second largest city on the entire continent. With the size comes a rich culinary tradition and some excellent options for street food. The cart here in Portland, some 7000 miles from its namesake welcomes its patrons with a colorful sign broadcasting ARGENTINIAN FOODS along with a city scene which I can only assume is how the city looks at night, all yellow, blue, green and orange building.
